How To Look Good In A Nightlife Photo - A Club Photography Essay

When the music is blasting and the crowd around you seems, to move in almost a subreal art form… You’ll notice another who has taken a particular interest in little ol’ you. Your eyes flutter and you brace yourself–not for a meeting of the minds–but for your very own personal photo shoot.

Oh yeah. This is it. The cameraman (or camera-lady) approaches you, raising their instrument, pointed towards their muse. Suddenly, you become poise, everything in the mist around has disappeared. Even the music is on pause. Your head slightly tilts, showing off your good side. You arch your back, slap a hand on your hip and yes give that killer smile that says, “I’m the one and only. I am confident. I embrace all elements that shape me. Regardless of my earlier mishaps ( the spilling of a drink or falling on the dance floor) I’m here. And I look damn good, so picture this!” All of this is said with a confidant stance, a sparkle in the eye and a friendly, yet seductive smile.

A little to much you think? Maybe. I’m just saying that taking a photo in the club doesn’t have to be painful. Who cares where the pictures end up. Especially if your posing fairly decent. If your concerned, ask! Too easy. In these days, where image is law for club promotion, It’s actually a compliment to be approached and asked to have your photo taken. The photographer is saying, ” Hey I like your look!” that is simply all. If you can, after the photo is taken, ask to view it. If you don’t like it, ask to take another. It’s a win win situation. The photographer walks away with a hot photo and your left feeling even hotter.

Basically, the magic word is CONFIDENCE! If you don’t have it–it will show.
